The Cape Parrot Working Group (CPWG) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, was formed in 2001 with the aim of promoting initiatives that will serve to conserve the species in the wild.

Cape parrots live in groups or "families" (an adult pair with 2-4 juveniles or non-breeding birds).

Every year we run a conservation effort where Cape Parrot populations are counted, observed and recorded.

This project provides an accurate overview of all Cape Parrots kept in captivity.
